Lucius says he can't do that

Three different things, similar in chat, different fixes.

“He’s asking me to confirm, not refusing”

Waiting for a confirm tap isn’t a refusal — the normal default for anything that writes (add a transaction, change a category, place a trade). Every write-capable tool defaults to needs approval unless you’ve changed it. Working as intended; approve the card if it’s what you asked for.

“He says a tool is blocked”

Set a tool to blocked and Lucius doesn’t attempt it — he says plainly it’s blocked and why, rather than inventing a workaround. Expect something like: “blocked by tool permissions — nothing ran. This is the owner’s standing decision, not a tool failure and not a missing capability.”

Fix: Settings → Permissions (or the connector’s page) — change Blocked to Needs Approval or Always Allow, depending on how much you trust it unsupervised.

“He says he doesn’t have a way to do that”

Different from blocked — no tool exists, usually because a connector that would provide it isn’t enabled. E.g. web search with no provider connected, or email without ingestion turned on.

Fix: enable the connector if you want the capability; otherwise it’s an honest “not available,” not a bug.

Checking or changing a permission ahead of time

Settings → Permissions shows every tool’s current level (Always Allow / Needs Approval / Blocked) up front, including “Custom” when a group isn’t set uniformly. Nothing defaults to Always Allow on its own — you opt tools up deliberately.
