Overview dashboard

What this solves

Overview is your home screen: net worth, what needs attention, and a library of report widgets — all built from the same figures Accounts, Plan, and Investments use, so it can never disagree with them.

Lucius chat is the desktop default, not Overview (one tap away). A fresh visit with no saved tab opens on Overview on mobile and Lucius on desktop; the installed PWA always opens on Lucius. Once you’ve visited any tab, your saved tab wins next time either way.

Tracking, BudgetingSeeded as a demo-only view (“Insights Demo”) on a fresh dashboard — net-worth composition, contributions vs. market, debt paydown, account balances, budget vs. actual, recurring, biggest changes, spending calendar, safe to spend. Not offered in the normal Add widget picker.

Every widget reads a server-computed endpoint — nothing is totaled in your browser.

Customize your dashboard

  1. Click Add widget, pick one from any group — it drops onto the grid at default size.
  2. Edit mode (pencil icon): drag to reorder, resize from the corner handle, rename, duplicate, or remove.
  3. Some widgets have their own settings (chart type, range, currency pairs), opened from the widget’s header in edit mode.
  4. Group widgets into sections, and switch between saved views from the tabs above the grid.

No accounts or holdings yet? Overview offers to seed demo data instead of showing a blank grid.

What Lucius can do here

  • Answer “what’s my net worth” or “how am I doing” with the same figures shown, over any window (1M/3M/6M/1Y/all-time).
  • Generate a structured report on request — net worth, realized income, spending, cash flow, or budget vs. actual, for a period you choose. Read-only in chat; no in-app download screen yet.
  • Explain and act on a Needs attention flag (approve a transaction, record a payment) without leaving the conversation.

Things that trip people up

  • The net-worth headline always recomputes, never reads from storage — change your base currency and every historical figure shifts. See Base currency & FX.
  • “Liquid”/“reachable” isn’t “in checking.” Brokerage/crypto settlement cash counts as reachable, not bank cash; unvested equity is excluded from net worth entirely.
  • “Not enough transaction history yet” just means the data window (usually 6 months) is thin — not an error.
  • Dashboard layout is instance-wide, not per-device.
